We created Rujani to bring speciality Assam teas direct from our farm to you

We frequently speak of being a farm to cup brand. I have often wondered about telling the story backwards – from your cup to our tea farm!

Elephants in Aideobarie

Every time you sip a cup of our tea, we want you to feel a sense of being in Assam, experiencing Assam’s vibrant culture, rich heritage, diverse flora and fauna and its friendly people, through a cup of Rujani tea.

Just the kind of virtual travel experience we seem to be craving for, given the times we live in.

We found that many think of Assam tea as just “tea in a bag”. But it’s so much more! We want to change how the world perceives Assam tea. One cup at a time. Look into our loose leaf tea range to see what we mean.

Rujani Loose Leaf Teas

Many moving parts must align to produce the perfect Rujani tea, but we think the wait is worth it. Because when you taste our tea, we want you to savour the best of Assam in your cup.

It starts with how the tea comes to you. Our packaging is sustainable, eco-friendly and made mostly from biodegradable material.

Rujani is consciously plastic-free, and will always be. For our Australian and New Zealand customers, we source our packaging locally, in Melbourne.

Meghna Baruah, @maguni_art

We commissioned an Assamese graphic designer, Meghna Baruah, for the packaging design. We wanted something that would carry a little bit of Assam with every type of tea in our range. Inspiration came from our textile heritage and the rich flora and fauna of the state. The motifs are modern yet inherently Assamese, just like Rujani.

All our tea is made in our farm in Assam, Aideobarie. The packaging carries the exact geo-coordinates of Aideobarie’s location.

On Aideobarie, life is busy. We are continually innovating and experimenting with the tea plants and tea making. The finest scientific minds in tea have become part of our endeavours, on the farm and in the factory.

The result shows in the teas we make. Each of our specialty teas are made from finely plucked leaves from select plants. It takes nearly 36 hours to produce a kilo. It’s quality over quantity.

Or as we say, small batches, big flavours.

Raj and Boroon, at Aideobarie, with the River Teok in the background

Raj created Rujani to bring speciality Assam teas direct from our farm to our customers. The desire to do so, comes from being fourth-generation tea planters, producing award-winning teas since 1897.

For long, our teas went to wholesalers and retailers, before it reached customers.

The world has changed, and as we grow closer, we thought it was time we connected with tea drinkers directly.

Enjoy your cuppa!
